Tabloid Press owes its title to TABLOID (2014), a relational text by Zoe Darsee and Nat Marcus set on newsprint in New York City in 2015, which also included a series of black and white photographs by the photographer George Nebieridze. Tabloid Press was a column of gossip. The effect of its lyrics were intended not only for the reader in a private moment of interaction with the poems, but for the whole community of friends, collaborators and lovers, the environment in which the authors Darsee and Marcus were dancing, reading, coming of age.

In the following years, Tabloid Press released over 10 publications, and its activities grew to include the facilitation of poetry workshops, designing books and clothing, and providing textual documentation for live performance. However, Tabloid Press´s focus or subject has remained environmental – the textual, visual, sonic and social terrains in which it operates.

The imprint’s residency at Blake & Vargas will act as a stage on which to enact and engage the scene of TABLOID Press, 4 years since its founding in Berlin, producing poetic environments within the gallery by various media and means. Titled A Guest List is a Love Letter, the residency can also be regarded as a publication – the second edition of TABLOID (2014). The surface of printed newsprint has expanded into a series of readings, performances, visual artworks and live musical sets, effectively “publishing” the imprint’s community four years since its conception.
