Hello Silence - Status#2
Has globalisation destroyed the internationalist dream?
A Lecture by Sonja Hornung
In her lecture Sonja Hornung narrates her attempt to enter a tax-free storage site for expensive art in Luxemburg. She then expands on this experience with some preliminary thoughts relating to more emancipatory forms of 'borderlessness'.
Sonja Hornung is a visual artist who, working between performance, installation and art in public space, attempts to insert emancipatory forms into pre-existing structures and is fascinated by the conflict this attracts. Previous works include 'Emptying flags' (Neue Berliner Räume, 2012-14), in which she attempted to replace national flags at Berlin embassies with meaningless ones; the performance-installation 'Spiel, dessen Regeln neu zu verhandlen sind' (Maxim Gorki Theater, 2016); and 'Sperre' (Forum Stadtpark, 2018), a uni-form for a body that refuses categorisation.
