Opening, February 7th – 7pm
„Maison Martin Margiela‘s designs have often been mistaken as anti-fashion but instead, it‘s about the incredible freedom in its radical questioning and rethinking of the parameters that have determined fashion.“ (Book 20 - The Exhibition)
Roman Vardija, founder of the archive Nightboutique, has built an extensive collection of historic Maison Martin Margiela pieces dating back to 1989. Driven by a long-term desire to work in an artistic context with his collection of „soft-vintage“ high fashion the idea to this exhibition was born. To showcase the legacy of Maison Martin Margiela‘s work Felix Gärtner and Jessica Klimach have selected key items that reflect the house‘s 20-year evolution until the year of Martin Margiela‘s resignation in 2009.
