In the late ‘80s artist Hannah Weiner (1928–1996)
transcribed fragments of the daily news in a kind of
writing trance over the course of a year and
published them in new constellations in the
publication „Weeks“ (Xexoxial, 1990).
What Charles Bernstein describes in its preface
equally hits today‘s situation at a sensitive point:
„The hours hang and the headlines punctuate
a passage through time that we move through,
head bowed at the collision of flesh and
indoctrination.“
What impact do news and headlines have –
especially if one needs to follow their directives.
How do you digest - or – what words, phrases
or expressives articulate themselves, once not
bound to the order of the rational?
We have invited various artists, authors and cultural producers to give free rein over their thoughts and send us a contribution in form of an audio recording.
The contributions will be published from May 8th on Blake & Vargas‘ Website.
A project by Franziska Glozer and Blake & Vargas
